I have found the end of the world and it is here. At least, it feels like it. This week, I've spent most of my time at Gramma's house because I've had skit practice every night from 7-9. Instead of wasting time driving home, I just stay in town with her. Now that I'm online more (or, really, all the time... or so my mom says but she doesn't even KNOW what MOST OF THE TIME is yet), it's harder to be away for so long.

Tuesday I went to the public library and used their internet.

Thursday I tried out the Community Campus but they don't allow Networking sites, including this one.

Today I sat in the parking lot of the library and used their internet while they were closed but it wasn't very comfortable so I thought I would just come early to practice and sit around or something. BUT THEY HAVE A WIFI CONNECTION. I don't know why I didn't think they would. Hallelujah! I can update!

If I have to hear one more question or ponderance about the wedding, I am liable to hurt someone. I love my sister. I wish her all the happiness in the world. I love my future brother-in-law. I think he's great. I love my parents. They shelter and feed me. But I just can't listen to wedding talk all evening long. And I just can't bring myself to get involved. To get involved with all the little stuff that keeps cropping up would mean that I am willing to listen to wedding talk. I'm not. But I really should get over this. I have committed to helping with some things closer to the wedding. A lot of things I'm not fit to help with right now. I don't sew and I don't cut things out well. I am helping tie things on favors and I even said I would stitch things IF NEED BE. I really don't think they want my help on that.

And the dress. Pure torture. I'm a big girl with a big bust line. I would think designers would get that already and not put size B cups on a large size dress. SERIOUSLY! Mom to the rescue, though. She thinks she can put some more material on it so I don't scandalize the entire guest list.

Almost time to start practice. I really hope I remember the line "It's a challenge for special occasions like this one" because if I don't I'm going to tattoo it to my inner arm! I'm big on hand motions helping me remember lines and there's nothing I can do that will help with that one. Not like my next line... "The four of you will have to work together (four fingers out) to solve the clues (point out) to get from checkpoint (palm slice) to checkpoint (palm slice a little further away) to complete the challenge (one last emphatic palm slice) and return home (thumb over my shoulder)." That line was a bugger to learn!

I think they wanted me in the skit because I'm loud. And I don't get quieter when I get flustered. If anything... I get louder. Yep. I'm that girl. You can call me loud but it would just be a compliment.

Today we went to try on bridesmaid dresses again. This time, we all came away happy. This was no David's Bridal for which I am eternally grateful. A smaller store with a big name designer that we found online but they were so very polite and easy to work with... unlike some of these big name chain stores. While we didn't pick any of the dresses that Doodle picked out, we did pick out dresses that looked good on us.

In order to find out which size I wear, I had to try on a wedding dress... and that may be the last time I ever wear one of those. That thing was HEAVY.

So while I had to tag along while we looked for other wedding stuff, I was allowed out of the car to rush into B&N to get a copy of the brand new Bone Crossed!!! It's in hardback!!! I love that one of my favorite new authors has made it to hardback! I haven't been able to read a lot of it but I will be sitting down by the fire later on tonight to get further into it!

AND...

We're at 5 weeks before St. Baldrick's Day! You know what that means????

My head will be COMPLETELY shaved in 5 weeks. March 14th!

Please consider donating to help me reach my goal of $2500 reached. If all of my online friends were to give $5, that would put me really close to that goal! You can donate by going to www.stbaldricks.org then clicking on Find a Participant and typing in Shelley K. (you'll know you have me if you see Boise Idaho below the name). I'm trying not to compete with my sister (who did it last year) but I sure don't want to raise less than she did!!! How embarrassing!

There will be a picture up there soon so that I'll have a PRE shaving and a POST shaving! I'm getting a little uneasy about being sans hair but my sister tells me it's not that bad. Her hair has grown back just lovely so I'm hoping I have the same wonderful genes! If you want to check out her pictures, I think you can still look her up - Mandie K. - also of Boise, Idaho.

January 1st is here again! Hooray! We made it through another year!

This is the first post done on Pixie, my new BLUE Acer Aspire. I love it... but it doesn't have a phone connection so I can only get online with WiFi. In the very corner of our house I can pick up a weak open signal but nothing that will get me online. At church, I can pick up TWO weak signals while I'm in a corner but again, nothing strong enough to get online. So I'm at the local gas station where they have free WiFi. It's a great signal, too! As soon as I'm done here, I plan on downloading various things... all at once! *g*

This is the coolest computer ever. It's very small and very lighweight but it's still easy to use. I'm still getting used the keyboard (89% of a normal keyboard) and it doesn't help that this table is too high up to type comfortably. I'm close to a plug-in and that is important as I only have about 45 more minutes. The most irritating thing right now is that I keep hitting the fast key that wants to tell me all about how to use Internet Explorer. And I have a tendency to push Control instead of the full stop but I'm getting better at that. It's just going to take time to get used to!

Oooh... right by the door. Maybe I'll go looking for a different plug-in!

Doodle and The Boy are flying home tonight. We left them in Boise yesterday and one of her high school friends is taking them to the airport. Yesterday was a heap of fun... NOT! Noodle and I got to try on bridesmaid dresses. None of these dresses are designed to make anyone look pretty unless they are a size 2 and look pretty in everything else. I could fit in most of the dresses but they were all designed for B cups and I am decidedly not a B cup. I flashed just about everyone in the store! I was deteremined to keep a smile on my face so I left my pride on the floor with my discarded street clothes and soldiered on. I've given Doodle enough grief about her constant worry about EVERY detail and I didn't want her to regret asking me. Luckily, Noodle didn't really look good in the dresses either... once again, she has cleavage that the dress makers don't seem to worry about in these dresses. It looks like we might go with a more Brazilian slant for the dresses which will make them much more flowing than a tradional dress. This also means that they will probably be made at home. Not that my poor mother will have a lot of time on her hands what with making the flower girl dresses, too. My list of things to do includes making the envelopes for the DVDs that are being sent out with the invitations/save the date cards and making the envelopes for the Thank You cards. Yep, my gift is envelope making. I figure I'll also go through Mom's list and help her out. I just don't think Doodle trusts me to carry out anything major. That's okay. She can give it to Mom and I'll do it. It's not like I don't have party planning experience or anything....

While in Boise, I got to the B&N which is always fun! It was crowded and I don't like that store as much as I like my own, familiar Twin Falls location but I got new books! Hooray! I also discovered a used bookstore near a Joanne's fabric store that is closing down (they're finally getting one of the new big stores in Boise) and I spent some time perusing the shelves for books. It was one of those places that smelled like smoke and moldering paper. I love it! They've been there for 16 years, according to the owner and shop-minder. I can't believe I've never heard of it! Even when I was over that way for college! I will have to return!

My completed 2008 book list will be forthcoming. I'm still going through some of the math of everything. I'm halfway through with a book right now and trying to figure out what list it should go on: 2008 or 2009? I meant to have it finished yesterday but forgot my book list so couldn't listen to it on the ride home. It'll be done today, though!

Okay, I've got things to do other than writing about my boring life! Onto the fun!

I do love this time of year. Can you guess why? So many little fun things on my friends page that look like this:

Zokutou word meterZokutou word meter
14,444 / 100,000
(14.4%)

or like this:

2795/3334

Boggles the mind how much I love word counts. In the absense of all else that I've had around me in years past, the word counts are enough to keep pushing me on. I love it! *g*

Oh... and have I told you the WEDDING NEWS? I doubt it. I'm a horrible sister and bridesmaid.

If you'd like to see the ACTUAL proposal of my sister and her boy, it's on YouTube. Alex had a friend filming it... plus it was on TV so everyone in the Miami area saw it! You can see it for yourself by going to www.lovethesantos.blogspot.com and paging down a bit. There's also a picture of the ring... *sigh*

EDIT:  The link is now fixed.  Thanks for letting me know!
