“And you actually paid money for that?”
The group looked Susan, waiting to see what her reaction would be to Ernie’s destiny. She stared at the back of her hand as if it housed the Oracle of Delphi.
“She probably thinks you should die in a fiery blast from a dragon,” joked Justin, never suspecting she actually heard him.
“How dare you joke about his death like that! No one deserves to have their death bandied around like this.”
The group laughed uncomfortably as she left, never suspecting how close she was to understanding death.
