Yesterday was the day that Noodle got her hair cut off! Shaved! To the scalp!
Mandie with hair! But not for long...

Here she is in the "hot seat"... and she looks a little freaked out. In actuality, she dealt with this VERY well. There were TONS of people cheering for her because a lot of them knew her. One of her teammates had gone right before her so she had a bald cheering section, as well.

Mow she's all smiles as the process begins! At one point she had a really cool "moehawk" from the position I was in.

The deed is done!

Noodle (who is slightly noodleless) and Doodle (who would never shave her head for any amount of money raised for children)!

This is just a cool picture! The woman to the left is Arianna's mom. She wanted to be there to cheer on the nurses that had taken care of Arianna when she was in Boise. She was also there to provide support for the other mom's there. The lady in the middle is the mom of Spencer (the little boy in the mask). Spencer is her SECOND child to be diagnosed with one of the childhood cancers. He was diagnosed only a couple of weeks after the first child was deemed "healthy". Talk about a strong mother! And then Mandie with her new do!

I got in the action, as well. Doodle painted this poppy on my cheek, Poppies are a big deal in my family and I wore it proudly all day long!

Noodle got some interesting looks when we went out shopping afterwards but she took all the odd looks with great dignity and pride. They gave her a little button that said "ASK ME WHY I'M BALD" but no one did. Pity. It would have been interesting to be able to tell someone the cool reason why my sister had no hair.
Maybe... next year... we'll see. I talked to the lady who put the whole thing on today and she was telling me that they moved to this new location because the event grew by nearly 40 shavees but it still wasn't big enough to really contain the whole crowd. She was saying that next year they might move the event to June and have it in the park! That would be cool... and would make some of those newly shaved heads kinda red! The event got the amount of money they were looking to make so that's REALLY cool.
I did get a cool volunteer t-shirt out of it and a signed Sara Evans CD. There was a silent auction and I put my name all over the place but only ended up getting one thing. I really wanted the real pearl necklace but the bidding got away from me. Oh well!
